Nyack, Rockland Primary Day Today

Nyack, September 13 — Nyack Democratic voters go to the polls today to choose a candidate for Mayor, Orangetown Town Council, County Sheriff and Family Court Judge.

Meanwhile, it’s the final day of our Anyone Can Vote: Nyack Sept 2011 Public Poll. Although today’s Primary is restricted to Democrats, our survey is open to everyone — including people who live outside Nyack. So far, over 100 people have cast their choice for Mayor and shared their opinion on village consolidation.

Polls are open from 6a-9p. As an FYI, we’re special: most counties in NYS don’t allow voting until noon. Only New York City, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam and Erie counties let you vote from 6a-9p.

Visit the Rockland County Board of Elections to find out where you should vote. BTW, don’t bother looking at the sample ballot on your Polling Place web page. It lists Andrew Cuomo as a candidate for Governor the November 2010 General Election. Oops?

Here are the candidates and links to their Websites.

Mayor of Nyack: Richard Kavesh and Jen White are running for Democratic nomination for Mayor of Nyack. Check out the Issue of The Week series and read the candidates’ positions on Supporting Nyack’s Downtown Businesses, Municipal Consolidation and Superblock Development.

Orangetown Town Council: Gerald Bottari, Robert Dell and Elijah Reichlin-Melnick are running for two seats on the Town Council.
