Grab Your Green Gear: A Guide to Earth Day (updated)

Tree art by Bill Batson revisedHave no fear, winter weary river villagers, Earth Day is here. It’s time to grab your green gear and celebrate the planet.  Here is a guide to a number of fun, educational, earth-wise events this weekend around town and across the county.

Keep Rockland Beautiful
Nyack Community Cleanup
April 26 9a-12n/Rain-date: April 27 9a-12n

Help remove tons of litter from village streets, parks and waterways as part of the “Great American Cleanup Campaign.” Volunteers will meet up at the Nyack Center (corner of Broadway and Depew) before 9a, to pick up supplies, enjoy refreshments and exchange ideas with neighbors before heading out to chosen sites from 9am-11am. Find KiRBy, the Cleanup Gnome (He’ll be hiding in littered sites), and win a prize. Students earn community service credits for every hour they roll up their sleeves. Afterwards, tools will be returned to Nyack’s Memorial Park for village Earth Day festivities, noon to 5pm. Share cleanup stories and achievements and then join in the fun: live music, craft projects, educational exhibits and games. Info: 845.708.9164.
