Here’s a run down of what to do and where to do it this weekend.

Friday

• Willy Wonka: Remember drive-in movies? Well they are back — at least for one special night this weekend. And here’s the best part: you don’t have to hide in the trunk to sneak in. Nyack’s Artopee Way Municipal Parking Lot will be transformed into a drive-in theater for a outdoor screening of “Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory” starring Gene Wilder. The throwback experience includes sweets from local vendors and popcorn delivered by the Suburbia Roller Derby team. It’s free, courtesy of Rivertown Film, the Village of Nyack and local artist Kris Burns. 8:15p, Artopee Way and Broadway.
• First Friday events staged by the Nyack Arts Collective:
  • There’s a reception for the Banned Books exhibit at the Nyack Library from 5-8p. 59 South Broadway.
  • Alicia Crowe offers an evening of jazz vocals at AVIDA Wine Bar, 159 Main St. at 8p.
  • Local artist Vera Rulon will transform disposable napkins into enduring works of art for sale with all proceeds benefiting Keep Rockland Beautiful and Maria Luisa’s “Say No To The Bag” campaign. ML by Maria Luisa, 5-8p, 75 S. Broadway.
  • The New NY Bridge Art Show 2014 features works interpreting the Tappan Zee Bridge. New NY Bridge project outreach office, 142 Main St from 6-8p.
  • Group art exhibit with Stephanie Gagos, Jamie Gaviola, Graceanne Malloy, Danielle O’Brien, Elaine Schloss and Donna Timm. Casa Del Sol, 5-8p, 104 Main St, Nyack.
  • Dream House, a mixed media installation by Joanne Howard at the Hopper House considers the “spiritual space” left behind in Edward Hopper’s boyhood home, 82 North B’way 5-8p.
  • Live music at the Main St. Gazebo: Erik Blicker at 6p, Ella Blicker at 6:30p, Drum Circle with Glenn Schloss and For Vibration at 7-8p.

Saturday

• The Nyack Saturday Farmer’s Market features local farmers, florists, vendors and artists from 8a-1p in the Main Street parking lot. Music at the market this week features Louis Miller (Christian Evans on mandolin and vocals, and Urban Eisley on guitar and vocals.) Influence by bluegrass tradition,  Louis Miller use play music from Tom Waits to Stone Temple Pilots.
• Wonkfest Alert: The Orangetown Town Supervisor and Town Board will hear 2015 budget presentations from department heads. 9a-130p, Town Hall, 26 W Orangeburg Rd, Orangeburg.

Sunday

• SeptemberFest Nyack Street Fair, 10a-5p. Bring the family but leave your pets at home.
• NJ PIPC: “Challenging” guided hike and rock scramble for experienced hikers covering about 4 mi. in about 3.5 hrs. on very rugged terrain.  Meet at 10a at State Line Lookout in Alpine (accessible to pedestrians and bicycles via Old Route 9W, to cars from northbound PIP near Exit 3).
• Highlands Bluegrass Festival: 5-string fiddle sensation Sue Cunningham and her top-notch bluegrass band returns to the Ramapo Mountains in the Highlands for a FREE event. Local crafts, delicious local food, children’s amusements, historic and environmental displays. 1-5p, Harmony Hall, 15 Liberty Rock Rd, Sloatsburg.
• Casting a New Life: William Rauschenberg creates simple but elegant plaster castings of personal everyday objects. This process has enabled him to return to art making after sustaining a traumatic brain injury. 2-5p, informal artist talk at 3p. Rockland Center for the Arts, 27 South Greenbush Road, West Nyack.
• Master pastel-ist Diane Rosen exhibits her dynamic figure compositions. 2-5p, Rockland Center for the Arts, 27 South Greenbush Road, West Nyack.
