Here’s a run down of what to do and where to do it this weekend.
Friday
- Create your unique recycle-able costume and help create posters and a banner for the “Say NO to the Bag” procession for the Nyack Halloween parade with Nancy Jagelka of Anthony’s Park, a sustainable community and recycle-based arts center. 6-8p at ML by Maria Luisa, 77 S. Broadway.
- Nyack Village Theatre stages its production of Alfred Hitchcock Presents, three one-act plays at 8p. Nyack Village Theatre, 94 Main St.

Saturday
- Nyack Chamber of Commerce presents Nyack’s 27th Annual Halloween Parade! Come witness as ghouls, goblins, stilt walkers, floats and marching bands take over the streets of downtown Nyack. Festivities start at 3 pm with live music and entertainment, a kid’s costume contest and a Zombie Crawl at Memorial Park before the parade steps off at 5:30p. Rain date: Sunday, October 26.
- Before gobbling down the trick-or-treat bounty, check out Nyack’s first Halloween costume run – the Witch Way 5K and Boo Run 1K for kids! This family-friendly race benefits the Nyack Center, a non-profit organization that takes care of kids and families in need by providing after school programs and teen activities. You can pre-register at RaceAwesome.com or sign-up on race day. 9a at Memorial Park in Nyack. Costumes optional!
- Stop by the Monster Mash directly after the Halloween Parade! Kids and grown-ups alike will enjoy spooky festivities and live music by Danna Banana! $5 games, dancing and pie toss. $5 per plate for ghoulish dinner buffet. To benefit the Nyack Center. 6:30-9p at Nyack Center, 58 Depew Ave.
- Maria Luisa is sponsoring a Say NO to the Bag, Feed the Bag Monster Procession. If you are attending the Halloween parade in Nyack, please bring your single-use plastic bags and feed them to the bag beauty and her escort, the bag beast, who will march in the Halloween Parade.Volunteers from Keep Rockland Beautiful, Rockland Youth Environment Society, and Anthony’s Park Art and Re-cycle Center will collect and repurpose the bags at the Farmers’ Market and along the route of the parade. The tail of the beast and dress train of the beauty will grow as the problem of single-use bags is reduced.
- Nyack Village Theatre hosts the classic Rocky Horror Picture Show after the Nyack Halloween Parade! 8p at Nyack Village Theatre, 94 Main Street.
- The Nyack Saturday Farmer’s Market features local farmers, florists, food and craft artisans. Adam McKee performs on cello from 10a-12n. The market runs from 8a-1p, Main Street parking lot.
- Pianist Jung Lin performs pieces by Liszt, Bach, Rachmaninoff, and more, as part of the Carnegie Concert Series. 7p at Nyack Library 59 S. Broadway.

- Historic Haverstraw Brick Museum Talk. Rob Maher discusses the ice industry and the village of Rockland Lake from over 100 years ago. Refreshments provided. 2p Haverstraw Brick Museum, 12 Main Street, Haverstraw.
- Joel Zelnik Trio performs the”Tony Bennett & Bill Evans – The Legendary Recordings.” Featuring Grammy nominee vocalist Annette Sanders. No cover. 6p at The ’76 House, 110 Main Street, Tappan.
- GraceMusic opens its 45th season of Great Music in a Great Space with The Ukuladies, an old-timey female vocal quartet (with ukeleles, banjo, fiddle, kazoo, pennywhistle, harmonica, spoons, musical saw, washboard and even some tap dancing!). They perform cowboy love songs, hits from the ’30s & ’40s, and originals. Join them for a meet-the-artists reception following the concert. Tickets $20; seniors $15; children under 12 free. 4p at Grace Church, 130 First Ave.
- Concert at the Library Young Masters Series: International award winning pianist, Arianna Korting. 2p at Valley Cottage Library, 110 New York 303, Valley Cottage.

- Wed: Nanuet Chamber’s Oktoberfest. The Greater Nanuet Chamber of Commerce will host its first Oktoberfest at Nanuet’s new Ambulance Brew House. Cost is $20 and includes food, drink and $5 donation to People to People. 6p Ambulance Brew House, 202 Main Street, Nanuet.
- Wed: Don’t miss the Palisades Center Spookfest! Start the festivities early with a costume contest, treats and live entertainment! 6- 8p Palisades Center Mall, East Court, 1000 Palisades Center Drive, West Nyack.
