• The Black Bar Association of Rockland County screens the PBS documentary Mr. Civil Rights: the Life of Thurgood Marshall, followed by a panel discussion. 6:30p at the Martin Luther King Multi-Purpose Center, 110 Bethune Boulevard, Spring Valley.
• Nyack Village Theatre presents Eve Ensler’s award-winning The Vagina Monologues. Proceeds go to Rockland County’s Center for Safety and Change, a shelter for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence. • Carnegie Concert Series presents Bach’s Complete Keyboard Works featuring pianist Mei-Ting Sun. 7:30-9:30p at Nyack Library, 59 S. Broadway.
• The UpSouth Twisters perform their seasoned blend of blues, Cajun, zydeco, and rock. Purchase tickets here. 8-10p at Turning Point Cafe, 468 Piermont Ave, Piermont.
• Edward Hopper House presents paintings and drawings by Philip Koch. The artist’s work includes large, vibrant landscape paintings as well as oils and charcoal drawings of the interiors of both Edward Hopper’s Truro, MA, studio and of Hopper’s Nyack home. 5-7p, at Edward Hopper House, 85 North Broadway. Exhibit runs through April 12.

Sunday

• Red Carpet Oscar Dinner Fundraiser by Friends of the Nyacks and Arts Angels to benefit arts in the community. Red Carpet walk at 6p. Main event and Dinner from 8-11p. Harbor Hill, 91 Main St.
• Nyack Village Theatre celebrates Black History Month in Film with Classified X at 2p which explores the representation of African Americans in American cinema through the eyes of Melvin Van Peebles. Followed by Sweet Sweetback’s BadAsssss Song, directed by Melvin Van Peebles at 3:30p. Nyack Village Theatre, 94 Main St.
• Documentary Brothers of the Black List: While looking for suspects concerning a 1992 attempted rape of an elderly woman, a school administrator at SUNY Oneonta gives police investigators the names and residences of 125 black male students. 2:30-4:30p at Nyack Library, 59 S. Broadway.
• Outdoor skating each weekend at Ramapo Ice Park at Provident Bank Park, Bear Mountain Ice Rink and Harriman State Park. Check Websites for times and fees. Wednesday

Rivertown Film presents the film Dear White People, a sly provocative satire of race relations on a college campus in the age of Obama. 8-10p, Nyack Center.

The African American Historical Society of Rockland County presents “I, Too, Sing America: The Contributions and Challenges of African Americans in the US Military.” The event includes music, dance, storytelling and dramatic performances, with archival film footage and features videotaped commentaries by nationally prominent Veterans such as General Colin Powell.  Rockland Community College’s Cultural Arts Center Theater is located 145 College Road, Suffern, 7-9:20p.
