Nyack Weekender: April 10-12, 2015

Here’s the rundown of what to do and where to do it this weekend.

Friday

  • Embodied Dance Project: an event that supports the art of dance as a community social gathering. Wine and light refreshments. Tickets: $20 at door. 8p at Union Arts Center, 2 Union Street, Sparkill.
  • The Nyack College Chorale’s spring concert highlights several works with live a orchestra, including Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy and Barber’s Knoxville Summer of 1915. 7:30p at Pardington Hall, Nyack College, 45 S. Boulevard.

Saturday

  • Run away and join the circus – without leaving home! Amazing ACOR Circus eventGrace Circus invites your family to experience a day at the circus where kids can learn the tricks they saw onstage post-performance! Don’t miss the midway lined with games, cotton candy and popcorn. Benefits the Arts Council of Rockland’s Arts Education Grant Program. Tickets: Adults $20, $15 for children under 12. 2p at CreativeWorks, Garnerville, 55 W. Railroad Ave, Garnerville.
  • Walk to the Beat offers a full day of classes including belly dancing, Spanish dance, capoeira, African drumming and dance, freestyle movement and body percussion. Cost: $20/workshop; $90/full day of workshops; $50/workshop for family; $150/full day of workshops for family. 1:30 – 9p at the American Legion Hall 85 S. Piermont Ave.
  • Carnegie Concerts presents pianist Oxana Mikhailoff as she plays a spellbinding program of fairy tales like “The Nutcracker” and “Midsummer Night’s Dream”. 7:30p at Nyack Library, 59 S. Broadway.e macabe
  • An interactive gallery walk & talk with Iris Brooks for her photo exhibit, The Way of Color: Blue. Running through June 6. 4-6p at Union Arts Center, 2 Union Street, Sparkill.
  • 85 South Arts presents Natural Adornments by Elena McCabe. 5:30-8:30p at 85 S. Broadway, Nyack.
  • Union Arts presents Here Comes The Sun, paintings by Diane Churchill, with a performance by Ghostlight, a cappella vocal ensemble. 6:30-9:30p, Union Arts Center, 2 Union Street, Sparkill.
  • Nobel Prize winning author Toni Morrison and entrepreneur, and Underground Railroad conductor Cynthia Hesdra are featured in an exhibition, 1-4p, every Sat through May. Historical Society of the Nyacks, 50 Piermont Ave.

Sunday

  • SpringFest Street Fair in Nyack highlights 300+ vendors offering fine crafts, jewelry, art, photography, collectibles, antiques, unique gifts and more. Check out the Main Street lot for live music by School of Rock- Orangeburg’s house ensemble, The Erie Street Band. These teen rockers headline a line-up of music that runs from 11a-5p. Alongside the live music, the kid’s zone is filled with carnival games, inflatables, and a climbing wall. Cause Kidz: Girls Education & Mentoring Service performs at 11a, 1p, & 3p at their booth (corner of Broadway and Burd St.) 10a-5p (rain or shine) on Main St. and Broadway.
  • Diana Cabouli exhibits her landscape paintings through April. Nyack Library, 59 S. Broadway, Nyack, NY.
