The Nyack Library hosts a panel discussion about the American Black Theater on Thurs May 14 at 7p. Local Rockland County artists Alice Crowe Bell, Samuel Harps, and Sam Waymon will discuss the origins of American Black Theater in Rockland County and across the country. Moderated by WQXR’s and ArtsRock’s Elliott Forrest.
Playright Samuel Harps is founder and Artistic Director of the The Shades Repertory Theater Company in Haverstraw. Actor and composer Sam Waymon, whose work includes Ganja & Hess, Nina Simone: La légende and Just Crazy About Horses, is a Nyack resident. Alicia Crowe Bell’s most recent work is The Workshop, staged at the Atlanta Black Theatre Festival last Fall.

Carnegie Concert Series: Rachmaninoff Complete Piano Works with Alexandre Moutouzkine, Sat at 7:30p
Living out of a hotel on borrowed money, Rachmaninoff finds a way to complete his Twenty-Four Prelude cycle while working on the Piano Sonata No.1, a symphonic poem after the Faustian legend.
