When most people think of Albert Einstein, they envision his wild hair and general unkempt appearance. But you don’t usually think of him as shoeless. Einstein didn’t like to wear socks. He said he couldn’t understand the purpose behind wearing both socks and shoes when one of them would do just fine. And socks “got the boot” because they always would get holes in them.

You can learn more about the genius and quirks on Thursday at 7p when the Nyack Library presents Reflections of Einstein, a feature documentary based on personal interviews with friends and colleagues of Albert Einstein including research assistants and several Nobel Laureates.

Here are some other interesting facts about Albert Einstein:

  • Einstein’s second wife was his first cousin on his mother’s side and a second cousin on his father’s side.
  • He was asked to be the second president of Israel.   Einstein declined the offer.
  • When Albert Einstein passed away, the pathologist, Thomas Harvey, removed his brain for preservation during the autopsy without the permission of his family.

Registration is required for the Thursday 7p free screening of  Reflections of Einstein.
