Where can you go to enjoy fresh air, healthy food, good wine…and get your knives sharpened? You can also buy flowers, taste artisanal chocolate, listen to music, meet friends, drink tea and park for free! The Nyack Farmers’ Market has left its winter quarters in the Nyack Center and has returned to the Main Street parking lot.
Farmers’ Market Manager Pam Moskowitz from the Nyack Chamber of Commerce says there’s a wide variety of eco-friendly products from local farmers, orchards, artisans,and producers. The market also fosters a strong sense of community among shoppers and vendors. You really get to know the people that provide your vegetables, meat, and fruit.
Up to 1,000 shoppers attend the market visiting 29 regular vendors and 12 rotating vendors. As the season unfolds local produce abounds. Local musicians play every week. The Cornell Cooperative Extension Service is there every week with special programs by Master Gardener volunteers and a nutrition educator from Eat Smart NY. Master Gardeners will offer advice on home gardening topics.
The market, open each Thursday from 8a-2p, will stay outdoors until Thanksgiving. And there’s free parking during market hours in the Artopee Way lot.

Michael Hays is a 30-year resident of the Nyacks. He grew up the son of a professor and nurse in Champaign, Illinois. He has recently retired from a long career in educational publishing with Prentice-Hall and McGraw-Hill. He is an avid cyclist, amateur historian and photographer, gardener, and dog walker. 
He has enjoyed more years than he cares to count with his beautiful companion, Bernie Richey.
