“When I started at Good Samaritan in 1970, radiology was in a primitive state. I could not have imagined the changes that would have occurred in the past 47 and half years,” he said. “Nuclear medicine and ultrasound have become valuable diagnostic modalities. Interventional radiology has revolutionized the diagnosis and treatment of many conditions, and mammography has become lifesaving. Pet scanning was not even on the horizon. Experts felt CT would never progress beyond head studies and MRI was basically a research tool. Now those modalities form the backbone of an imaging department.”
More than 300 physicians, healthcare administrators, board members, staff and friends raised over $225,000 at the on April 21 annual Spring Ball. The hospital uses these funds to help expand and enhance its programs and services.
In addition to Boltin’s award, The Good Samaritan Medal of Honor was presented to Sam Fratto & IBEW Local Union 363, whose work has supported the hospital and other local charities for many years.
