Hudson River book discussion group

This coming Tuesday March 10th at 7PM the Nyack Library will be holding its first in a series of book discussions focused on Hudson River topics.  The first book is Riverkeepers: Two Activists Fight to Reclaim Our Environment as a Basic Human Right by John Cronin and Robert Kennedy, Jr.

You can pick up copies of the book at the reference desk in the library.

This book is an exciting opportunity for discussion for many reasons.

1.  It discusses commercial fisherman and fishing in Nyack

2.  We will have a follow-up lecture with Riverkeeper boat captain John Lipscomb on Thursday April 9th at 7PM.  He has asked our discussion group to come up with some questions for him prior to his talk.

3.  In another related event we are showing America’s First River: the Fight to Save the River (this is part 2 of Bill Moyers on the Hudson).  See it on March 31st 6:30pm.

Each month this year we will focus on a different book related to the Hudson River in commemoration of the Hudson Fulton Champlain Quadricentennial.

This is our first full month of Q programming at the library and it is our hope that the book discussions, lectures, and films together create a greater knowledge and appreciation for the Hudson River.
