Romp’s Day In Court Is Thursday

Photo Credit: Sean Jones PhotoRomp Store owner Carol McIlmurray returns to court on 7/30 to respond to four counts issued by Nyack’s Building and Fire Department’s last month. The store has been closed since it opened briefly on July 4th, although painting of the facade has continued intermittently.

McIlmurray writes on her blog that she has suffered from “serious health issues… due to the stress of fighting the village of Nyack, the nasty comments from people who hate art, and not having much support from family or friends.”

Romp faces several thousands dollars in fines for opening without a fire permit.

After reading her mission statement on her website I finally understand:

“ROMP’s first order of business is to sell Carol McIlmurray’s Storefront Art during a one-day worldwide auction to the highest bidder. Romp’s goal is the buyer of this artwork be an American business owner, who sees the vitality and vision of our generation’s voice and creativity; an American Art collector who sees the next twenty years as a prosperous time of technology and advancement in our society.

After I sell the artwork on the face of my store at worldwide auction, I will use the capital of the sale to invest in Romp Stores; a big business that will immediately create job and commerce across the nation.”

Would someone hurry up and buy her painting so we can get this economy moving again! Romp is going to be the next WalMart, but in a different, cool, and green way.
