  1. Marianne Olive says:

I remember John when he first became Building Inspector 14 years ago. He was a young rookie, but took the job seriously and did it thoroughly. He was even tempered which was refreshing when it came to getting things done.

My condolences to his wife, daughter and family who must be in a state of shock. He will be missed by the entire Nyack community and it’s administration.

  2. Steve Knowlton says:

As the Chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals for 10 years, I was fortunate to work closely with John for nearly his entire tenure as Chief Building Inspector. His even tempered, methodical approach to land use was a refreshing change in our often overheated Village. His willingness to assist in the large land use projects like the Code Revision was evidence of his dedication to his job and the Village. John also possessed an understated sense of humor coupled with superlative comedic timing that was much appreciated. I am honored to be able to call him friend, and he will be greatly missed.

As a longtime member of the Planning Board, I worked with respected and admired John for his calm, methodical approach to an often confusing and contentious process. He always had a zeal for life, his daughter, his wife, and his family. I cannot believe the sorrow– taking such a young and vibrant life. Our deepest sympathy for all whose life he touched.

He will be sorely missed by everyone.
