Happy Thanksgiving

2009 NY MTA Thanksgiving PosterHappy Thanksgiving.

And a tip of the hat (if not of the hatchet) to the MTA for this LOL-able poster.

Have a Tryptophantastic day and safe travels wherever you may go.

The turkey pictured in the Metro North ad sure did have the right idea. Drove in to my mom’s apartment on East 84th St. yesterday — fortunately, against the traffic. Took 87 south to the Willis Avenue Bridge to 2nd Avenue and made it in about 40 minutes.

BUT, the northbound traffic to the intersection of Routes 95 (Cross Bronx Expressway) and 87 (Major Deegan) — which may well be the worst intersection in all of America — was backed up way south of the RFK (Triboro) Bridge.

I suspect that the people stuck in this mess were in no thankful mood and that many of them may have taken hours just to move a few miles and/or missed their family dinners altogether.

NNV had the right idea about walking yesterday off today. And no mall for me today. Think globally, shop locally.
