This will not be our last event. We would like to have a Marriage Equality Town Hall for the Hudson Valley in February or March.

I still can’t see how opponents of gay marriage call themselves friends of freedom. The Declaration of Independence says that “all men are created equal,” we pledge allegiance to a flag that promises “liberty and justice for all,” and the 14th Amendment guarantees due process of law and equal protection of the laws to all American citizens.

This is a battle that WILL be won. Some day all of you who were there on Sunday will be able to look back and say that you played a part in this cause of liberty, liberation, justice, and freedom.

Only then will America live up to the frieze on the front of the U.S. Supreme Court building: “Equal Justice Under Law.”
