Richard Quinn, Candidate for Village Trustee: Bio

Richard Quinn, a multimedia artist living and working on Main Street in Nyack, has worked extensively with acclaimed photographer Mick Rock on projects for artists such as David Bowie, Lou Reed, Queen, Iggy Pop, Talking Heads, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, The Rolling Stones, Phil Spector, Aerosmith, Tori Amos and many others throughout the 1980s and 1990s. During that time, Quinn also produced a documentary video for world renown pop-artist Tom Wesselmann, in conjunction with the Tom Wesselmann exhibit (“A Retrospective Survey 1959-1992”), which appeared in major museums throughout Japan before heading to Europe the following year. Richard arranged with PBS stations across America to air the documentary. Other notable multimedia projects or events Richard Quinn has produced include working with Rob Stoner (Bob Dylan’s bassist & bandleader), blues singer Garland Jeffreys, fashion designer Ali Reza, Random House Publishing and Emmy Award-winning television writer-producer Christopher Lukas which includes the annual Edward R. Murrows Radio, Television, News, Director Award (RTNDA).

For over twelve years, Richard Quinn has worked with many community organizations and local businesses in Rockland from his audio-visual and web design firm based in Nyack, New York. Some of these include the Rockland Symphony Orchestra, the Rockland Camerata, the Rockland County Choral Society, the Rockland Conservatory of Music, Suffern Civic Association, Rockland Community College, and the Nyack Chamber of Commerce, where Quinn serves on the Board of Directors. In May of 2003, Quinn launched Rockland World Radio, Hudson Valley’s Internet Broadcast station, which features independent music, art, business & culture, and 25 weekly broadcast programs. Broadcasting from Nyack Village Theatre, Quinn’s multimedia performance space, Rockland World Radio provides a wide range of much-needed community programs. Quinn also received the JCC-Y Recognition Award for producing Jake Talks, a community broadcast program for the Mitzvah Maker teens. He also produces Dialogues with Dan, a weekly program discussing disabilities & disability issues wit TBI survivor and author Daniel Windheim. Quinn has also produced and facilitated an annual 24-hour broadcast for Hungerthon to benefit World Hunger Year, the “Live at Tower Records” music showcase and “Rock Yo Mama Fest” concert at the Fire Training Center with the Committee to Promote Volunteerism and the Rockland Family Shelter. He is a recent graduate of the Leadership Rockland program, and was a recipient of the United Hospice of Rockland Award in 2008. This past April, Quinn received the first ever RCADD award for Media recognizing his work in the field. This summer, he facilitated the YMCA Summer Sessions for Teens at Nyack Village Theatre, a showcase performance group for the YMCA youth camp.
