Fyfe To Direct RCDS’ Forbidden Planet

by Ronald Romanowicz

When Rockland Country Day School needed to find a replacement director on short notice for the Spring musical, they didn’t need to search very far. Assistant Head of School Upper Division Head Jim Fyfe, a former professional actor with directing experience, answered the call.

Fyfe’s acting experience includes appearances in The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Aire, Law and Order, The X Files and Smart Guy guaranteeing the student cast of Forbidden Planet an exciting experience.  “I really love this show,” says Fyfe. “I started discovering deeper levels in the text.” Although he hasn’t directed in five years, he says he still enjoys the experience. “I have the chance to help each person go about it their own way,” he says.

Return to the Forbidden Planet, a jukebox musical loosely based on Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” and the scifi classic “Forbidden Planet,” comes to Rockland Country Day School on April 16-18. The student cast will perform classic rock ‘n roll songs including Wipeout, Good Vibrations, Great Balls of Fire, Shake Rattle and Roll, Gloria and Born To Be Wild.
