Nyack, March 13 — Join a rowing relay team to raise money for The Nyack Center on Sat 3/13.
The River Rowing Association and the Nyack Center invite the community to join the Pull with Purpose Row-a-thon. Participants aged 13 and up compete in a relay race of teams on rowing machines for two hours. It all takes place at the Nyack Center, 58 Depew Ave. in Nyack on March 13 from 9a – 12n.
Rowers will be asking for pledges and all proceeds of the event will benefit the Nyack Center and their community-oriented programs. Last year over $8,000 was raised. Five member teams qualify to compete for the highest overall meters rowed.
Beijing Olympics single scull silver medalist and eight-time US national team member Michelle Guerette is the guest speaker at the River Rowing Association Annual Benefit dinner later in the day. There’s a meet and greet at 5, dinner at 6 and dance till after dark with Nyack’s own rockabilly group Four Gun Ridge from 8-10p.
The community is invited to organize larger teams from clubs, groups, family or friends. Or “walk-on” and compete for individual and team prizes in a variety of categories. The Row-a-thon offers the community members the opportunity to learn the sport, compete, and raise money by rowing more than 200 kilometers (120 miles) in two hours on indoor rowing machines (ergometers).
The Pull with Purpose Row-a-thon is the River Rowing Association’s (RRA)’s annual fundraising event for its neighbor and supporter, the Nyack Center. Founded in 2003, the RRA is a non-profit Nyack-based community rowing association offering competitive and recreational rowing to area youth and adults. The Pull with Purpose Row-a-thon is dedicated to raising money for the Nyack Center, a local youth based community center in Nyack.
Both the RRA and the Nyack Center are 501(c)3 not-for-profit entities and donations are tax-deductible. Pledge forms and more information are available at www.riverrowing.org. All check donations should be made to “Nyack Center.” For more information about the Nyack Center, please visit www.nyackcenter.org.

PLEASE NOTE Slight change in time and location:
9:00am – 12:00pm, River Rowing Association’s 4th Annual Pull With Purpose charity erg-a-thon to benefit the Nyack Center and their many programs. Teams of five or more row in relay fashion for two hours — the team with the most meters wins! Put your team together now and help support the community in a fun and exciting way. Minimum donation is $25/rower, but the more money you raise, the better shot you’ll have at winning one of many prizes.
