Nyack, Sept 11 — The 5th Annual Ride 2 Recovery Minuteman Challenge rolls through Nyack this afternoon as part of a 355 mile journey from Waltham, MA to the the 9-11 Memorial Museum in New York City.

Ride 2 Recovery supports physical and psychological rehabilitation programs for injured veterans, featuring cycling as the core activity for service men and women to build strength and conditioning while overcoming the challenges many veterans face when returning home from service. Ride participants say cycling is a powerful therapeutic exercise that they can do alone or in groups for the rest of their lives.

“After watching Ride 2 Recovery cyclists training at Fort Hood and Fort Eustis, I decided I was ready to try it,” said Staff Sgt. Eric Murray, U.S. Army and former Marine. “When I ride, it clears my mind and I don’t have to worry about anything but the road ahead. The Minuteman Challenge will be my one-year anniversary with Ride 2 Recovery, and I’ve been training hard to make this ride my best.”

The Sept 11 activities for the Ride 2 Recovery group include a Moment of Silence/Ride in Newburgh, NY at 9a observing the 13th anniversary of the September 11 attacks and visits to the West Point Museum, a lunch at Haverstraw Bay Park and a stop at Memorial Park in Nyack at 1:30p. This cyclists will stay overnight in Ft Lee, NJ before concluding their ride on Sept 12 in New York City.
