In 1912 the famed English composer Gustav Holst wrote the beautiful St. Paul’s Suite in tribute to the school in England where he was music director. More than 100 years later, the Nyack High School Chamber Orchestra will be performing St. Paul’s Suite in preparation for a competition in London this spring. The students will also be performing Tchaikovsky’s classic Serenade for Strings as well as pieces from the celebrated composer Handel and various covers of popular tunes and holiday music under the direction of Mr. Matt Lucero. Before they embark on their international tour this spring, you can hear them perform in and near Nyack.
The young musicians that make up the audition-only Nyack High School Chamber Orchestra are looking forward to sharing their joy of music with our community. Each of the students in the orchestra takes enormous pride in their musical achievements; their talent is noteworthy. Over the years, the chamber orchestra has received numerous awards and accolades such as the distinguished National Orchestra Cup. They have performed nationally in prestigious concert halls including Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and internationally in Prague and Vienna.

The Nyack High School Chamber orchestra Nov-Dec performace schedule includes:
- Sun Nov 30 from 1-3p: The Palisades Center, Lord & Taylor atrium
- Sat Dec 13 7:30p: The Nyack Library Carnegie Concert Series
- Sun Dec 14 from 12n-2p: The Nyack Indoor Street Fair at the Nyack Center
- Wed Dec 17 at 7p: The Nyack High School Winter Concert
The chamber orchestra will also be performing for various private parties, events and celebrations in and around the area. All of the funds they raise from these performances will go toward financing their participation in the London music festival this March.
