Adult Improv (Isn’t This What Life Seems Like Anyway?)

Develop your verbal and interpersonal skills. And have fun doing it.

Sure you can think on your feet. But can you make people laugh while doing it? Nyack resident Jim Fyfe can show you how, beginning Thurs Jan 26 at a comedy improvisation class for adults (18 and older).
Improv Class with Jim Fyfe“You don’t have to be funny to do improv. If you focus on a few simple rules, the comedy happens automatically, almost magically,” says Fyfe. A 25-year veteran of TV, film and Broadway as an actor, Fyfe says improv can be a really useful skill that anyone can use every day. “Whether you’re a salesperson who needs to build relationships with clients or a busy parent who has to deal with kids throwing you curves, everybody’s been caught in ‘what do I do?’ situations, and improvisation can help you deal with those. Plus, it’s a ton of fun! I’m not saying my class will be a magic bullet, but it will be pretty close.”
Fyfe has worked as writer, producer and director with recent stints as a Segment Producer on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Consulting Producer on the upcoming Bravo series, Andy Cohen’s Then and Now. He has taught improvisation, on-camera technique and acting, and coached speakers for TED and TED-x events, and written for Biography, Exhale with Candice Bergen and Night After Night on Comedy Central.
The class will be held on Thursday nights from 7:30-9p beginning Jan 26 and running until June 8 at Helen Hayes Youth Theater Studios. For enrollment information, email JimFyfe@optonline.net.
