On January 14, 2013 three Nyack Library Trustee terms expire. The incumbents have been nominated by the Board of Trustees to stand for reelection: E. Michael Growney, Jr. of Upper Nyack, and Debra Karten and Kevin Doyle of South Nyack. As provided by the Bylaws of the Nyack Library, residents of the Nyack Library’s chartered service area may also nominate candidates to fill these positions.

The Nyack Library is conducting a survey to get feedback from library users as part of its long-range planning process. Residents of the library’s chartered service area can take the survey online or by picking up a paper copy of the survey form at the library. The deadline for completing the survey is January 15, 2013.

At the Nyack Library Board’s July 23rd meeting, Library Director Jim Mahoney announced his decision to retire on November 27, 2012. Jim is in his 25th year as director. He has been integral to two major expansions of the library, has greatly diversified and improved library service to the community, and has built a library staff that is the pride of Rockland. The Library Board has established a Search Committee of five publicly elected representatives of the community in library matters – library trustees – plus two professional staff members, to find a new Library Director by November.
Nyack, Jan 10 — Mary Callan, Peter Danish, Mary Anne Evangelist and Mark Hussey were elected to the Nyack Library Board of Trustees in yesterday’s election. New members Danish and Evangelist will be joining the board for the first time; Hussey and Callan were re-elected to a new term.

Nyack, Dec 20 (updated) — At its regular meeting on December 12, the Nyack Library Board of Trustees filled two open board positions with the appointments of Dr. Mary Ann Evengelist of South Nyack and Peter Danish of Nyack. Their appointments are subject to confirmation through a public election to be held at the Nyack Library Association Annual Meeting on Monday, January 9, at the Nyack Library between the hours of 10 am and 7:45 pm. Two other trustees, Mark Hussey of Upper Nyack and Mary Callan of Grand View, have also been nominated by the Board for reelection on January 9.

The Nyack Library has two open positions on its Board of Trustees that it will fill at its regular meeting on December 12. Therefore, the board is asking for applications from interested members of the public, who can pick up an application form at the library circulation desk. The deadline for filled-out applications to be received by the library is December 1.
