Burrell Endorses Jimerson, Irvin and Marshall
We have a school board election in the Nyack School District on May 17th. I have decided to endorse three candidates. I use the acronym JIM which stands for Jimerson, Irvin and Marshall. Each of these candidates has shown an ongoing commitment to communication, fiscal sanity and academic excellence. I think the board needs some new voices and perspectives from people who fully understand the imperative of communication and process.
Leeann Irvin is an attorney experienced in focusing discussion and brokering compromises in significant disputes involving people with opposing concerns. And with young children in the district, she is committed to the long term success of our schools.
As an Business Account Executive, James Marshall is practiced in responding to the needs of demanding business customers, fashioning a practical solution best suited to their needs. As a community leader in Nyack for 17 years he has worked with many community organizations focused on district initiatives to advance the needs of Nyack Schools. During this season of change, their willingness to move this district forward is commendable.
Claudette Jimerson is a music educator who conducts herself with dignity, style and grace. There is no one more committed to the arts, no one more focused on children. As a retiree on a fixed income, she knows the pain every tax increase imposes. Her love for children provides a healthy tension as she represents the community. Her approach to school board governance is not the blast of the trumpet but the warm ember of the violin. We continue to need her voice.
I endorse these three without hesitation. I hope you will do the same. Join me on May 17th in voting for JIM. Jimerson, Irvin, Marshall. #2,#3 and #4 on the ballot.
Make sure you vote! The polls are open until 9 p.m.
Bryan Burrell
