July 5 — The Village of Nyack’s recently revised garbage pickup schedule has a special post-holiday present for residents: Trash Tuesday. You can take out your trash today because regular Monday pickup shifts to Tuesday whenever a national holiday falls on a Monday.
The Village of Nyack’s new trash pickup schedule starts today. Beginning on Monday, June 20, the DPW will pick up trash from every home in the village each Monday and Thursday. Bulk pickup will now be available the first Friday of each month. You can also drop off bulk items any day at the Village of Nyack DPW on Catherine Street.
Village of Nyack residents will get an additional garbage pickup day beginning in mid-June. As a bonus, the new schedule will permit more street maintenance work in less time without adding staff or increasing costs. Village Administrator Jim Politi says that by consolidating trash pickup to two days each week, residents will benefit by getting another day when they can put out their trash and his DPW staff will get 11 full days in a typical month where they can concentrate on the other responsibilities of the village’s Department of Public Works.

Potholes, gazebos and the governor (Oh My!) And the village says good bye to a good man and long time employee who left us way too soon. Fishing pier status, paving, the 2% tax cap and progress on Memorial Park, too.
It’s the day after the day after the big storm and village life is returning to normal. Which means if you haven’t cleared your sidewalk, you might be hearing from Nyack’s Building Department.
An ice storm and an accident can get more results than an once of prevention.
