This special edition of the Nyack Sketch Log celebrates Jazz Week which started Sunday. The annual summer festival is organized by the Rockland Jazz & Blues Society at venues including the Edward Hopper House Arts Center, Memorial Park, Union Arts Center, The Hudson House and The Turning Point Cafe in Piermont.
Because of a tradition that started at a club on Main Street called The Office, Nyack has enjoyed world class jazz for decades. From 1975 until 1980 jazz greats like Bill Evans and Jaco Pastorius were welcomed here to jam or gig. This sketch log tells the story of how the club exploded onto the scene and then went supernova five short years later.
A calendar for the remaining performances of Jazz Week 2016 is also included.
