Nyack, May 18 — If you add up all of the weekend numbers, Nyack should set another 35,000 or so seats at the table this weekend with a Saturday afternoon parade, a Sunday world class bike event and the second Street Fair of 2013.
If you want to take in Nyack by the numbers, consider these digits: 7000, 70, 105, 8000 and 25000. Those are cyclists, countries, miles, feet and estimated Sunday Street-farians.
The streets will be alive with the sound of music on Sunday April 14 at the 27th annual SpringFest Street Fair from 10a – 5p rain or shine. In addition to 200 vendors, the Nyack Chamber of Commerce has collaborated with two local music schools to serenade you while you stroll and shop.

There are three things which Nyack has in abundance: artists, bikers and dogs. But on Street Fair Sundays two out of three aren’t welcome.
“To the vendors and businesses at the Nyack Street Fair, we would have spent more of our money with you, but a police officer told us we had to leave with our two Greyhounds. There were no dogs allowed at the Festival held on a PUBLIC STREET!” writes commenter GreyhoundMom.
There’s a new exhibitor at the Sun Sept 25 Street Fair in Nyack. In addition to the booths of arts, crafts, jewelry, knick-nacks, practical and whimsical, you’ll find the FEDS. Washington, in the form of FEMA, will be here. And yes, there are here to help.
There will be music and dancing in the streets on Sunday at Septemberfest. And just like the song says, it doesn’t matter what you wear just as long as you are there, along with the street performers, the popcorn and cotton candy, the Fall gifts and the fine arts and crafts.

It’s inevitable that we all grow older, but that doesn’t necessarily mean we have to grow up, too. Here’s one childhood memory you can relive any day which is both good fun and good exercise, too.
Three years ago I picked up an adult-sized hula hoop, giving it a whirl for the first time since I was a child. Over the years my interests changed, my hobbies evolved and I had forgotten the simple joy of hula hooping. When I picked up an adult-sized hula hoop, I spent the better part of my day in meditative rhythmic movement.
This summer we’ve had bear scares, street fairs, floods, streetscape scrapes, sewage spills, heat waves and hot political campaigns. But depending on your point of view, Nyack can still seem like a sleepy river town in the middle of summer.
